⚡️ The Worst Best Day to Move
Jim Wall | The Adventure Chronicles
This is a story about hurricane rain, broken elevators, and the only difference between a good day and a bad day.
(Hey there, I’ve missed writing to you the last month. It’s been a wild ride and I’m excited to share this story with you.)

You gotta be kidding me…
On my way with the Uhaul to move into our new place, it starts pouring rain.
After 3 incredible months abroad, we were excited to finally settle down again.
Oh right it’s still hurricane season, maybe Florida is just welcoming us home.
Managing a little rain seemed doable.
But there was another surprise waiting for us.
Adventures Don’t Follow Your Schedule
You know those situations where you don’t think they can get more complicated, and then they do?
I arrived to the building to find 7 power company trucks and dozens of workers outside.
Yeah, this is that moment.
“Lightning hit the lines early this morning and blew out a couple transformers, it’ll be at least few hours before the power’s back”, a drenched yet oddly cheerful worker told me.
So there we were: a Uhaul full of cardboard boxes, pouring rain, 4th floor apartment, 90 degrees, air conditioning down, elevators down, emergency lighting only in the building.
What do you do in that situation?
I believe there are two options:
1) Get frustrated, annoyed, etc.
2) Call it an Adventure
No Plan Survives First Contact With The Enemy
We always have two options with any situation in life.
We can decide that it’s either happening to us, or it’s happening for us.
Most people don’t think this way.
It’s up to you, the leader, to share the vision for those around you.
Hey guys, this is going to be a fun story to tell one day, let’s enjoy the craziness and make it happen together. You all with me?
Michelle, her mom Jenny, and my mover guy nodded.
We planned how to haul everything up the stairs, arrange the apartment, and then got to work.
Boxes broke open, a bottle of olive oil spilled, we broke a light in the staircase, a dresser slipped and cracked…
But nothing phased us, it was expected.
We joked around with the electrical workers, they were enjoying the adventure too (it was Saturday, who does’t like a little overtime pay?)
And as soon as the apartment was loaded, the power came back on…
Adventure Is An Attitude
To apply this strategy yourself, I’ve broken it into a few simple steps:
Map out an action plan to execute
Share the vision your team will accomplish
Expect obstacles and troubleshoot them together
Share the journey (like I am now) and celebrate victory!
When you apply the lens of adventure to any task, it becomes exciting instead of draining.
It becomes a story.
And that’s all the Adventure of Life really is, our stories to tell.
The Bottom Line
The only difference between a stressful day and a adventurous one is your attitude.
It’s always our choice, so own it.
If you ask “how do I actually implement the adventure attitude?”
I have a surprise bonus!
I created a free training to show you exactly how to transform even your biggest, scariest goals into an action plan that you can start today.
Get access to it HERE.

Smiling because I can.
“There are no facts, only interpretations.”
Life is a game of choose your own adventure.
Our choices today of what matters most determine how we end.
